Who I Am

If you know anything about Bob Jones University, you'll understand why I'm not saying who I am. I'm not a teacher. I'm not a student. But I have friends who are both, and I want to protect them.

I'm not a bitter teenager who was kicked out of the university. In fact, I graduated with a 3.97 GPA. I was an Assistant Prayer Captain and nominated for Prayer Captain before I became a town student. I was solicited by some of my favorite teachers to become a Graduate Assistant. I went on two extensions every week. I went to church every Sunday night and Wednesday night. I was an officer in my society for multiple semesters. I went on two summer mission teams, one an official university team. I was a counselor at the Wilds Christian Camp. I briefly dated a preacher boy. I never had more than a few demerits in any given semester. I never broke dress code, smuggled "uncheckable" music into the dorms, or bad mouthed the university to my roommates.

This list sounds like the BJU version of the Apostle Paul's list in Philippians 3:4-6:

"If anyone else has a mind to put confidence in the flesh, I far more: circumcised the eighth day, of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the Law, a Pharisee; as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to the righteousness which is in the Law, found blameless."

Yet Paul counted these things as loss for the sake of Christ. In view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ, all other things are rubbish!
